Elevator Shutdowns in the Center for Care and Discovery
Over the next 6-8 months, the University of Chicago Medicine is planning for a series of elevator shutdowns in the Center for Care and Discovery (CCD) to install additional inpatient/staff elevators on the east and west sides of the building.
The first shutdown will occur February 6 and impact the east inpatient/staff elevators (#112 and #113) on all floors of the CCD. The elevators will be taken out of service from approximately 3 a.m. - 11 p.m. During this time, all inpatient transport will be rerouted to the west inpatient/staff elevators (399 and #100). Signage will be posted to remind staff of these temporary changes and redirect to the available elevator.
The duration of each shutdown will vary. Facilities Operations will commuicate directly with impacted areas and the medical center at large to ensure that operational disruptions are minimized.
