University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences

(November 22, 2015) When the new birth center opens in 2016, mothers-to-be will have many new options to select from when personalizing their birth experience. One of those options includes natural birthing.

They will be offered in state-of-the-art private suites that will be located within the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital, just steps from the Margaret M. and George A. Stephen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

“We are excited to offer additional high-quality obstetric services for expectant and new mothers and their babies in a beautiful and intimate setting,” said Kenneth Nunes, MD, medical director, labor and delivery. “Our patients will soon have access to our new midwife practice and a number of new natural birthing options, which so many moms are looking for in their birthing experience.”

The University of Chicago Medicine will be the only hospital in the Chicago area with a birth center embedded inside a children’s hospital.
