University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences is at the forefront of these efforts.
The University of Chicago Medicine’s Center for Care and Discovery is flexible facility that is able to support complex medical and advanced surgical care utilizing the latest technology. The facility opened in February 2013.
In 2013 the Center for Care and Discovery achieved LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Buidling Council. LEED is the foremost program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. Over 44,00 projects are currently participating in the commercial and institutional LEED rating systems, comprising over 10.3 billion square feet of construction space in all 50 states and 135 countries.
